One weekend each September, thousands of motorcyclists descend on Ocean City, MD in a very loud way – which is how it should be since it’s bike week! Before you go, here are a few tips for both the novice and seasoned biker:

Event dates are 9/17 thru 9/20. If you haven’t booked a hotel at the time this is published, you better do it and keep your fingers crossed that you can find a room. This is a beach community so pack the sun screen and plan for warm temps and (we hope!) lots of sun.

Delmarva Bike Week:

Winter Place Park, Salisbury Purdue Stadium, Salisbury Convention Center, Ocean City Seacrets Jamaica, Ocean City Rommel Harley-Davidson, Ocean City

For a detailed schedule of events at each location, visit www.delmarvabikeweek.com.

OC Bikefest:

OC Bikefest happens simultaneously at the Inlet (just follow Ocean Highway and turn left before you fall in). The difference between OC Bikfest and DBW is that you need to pay to get into the Inlet. The cost is $40 for an adult weekend pass or $30 for an adult day pass. Yes, you can pre-purchase online. Once inside, you’ll be exposed to a host of entertainment including national acts such as The Dobie Brothers, REO Speedwagon, Kix and Great White.

For detailed schedule of events and band schedule at the Inlet, visit www.ocbikefest.com.

Getting Around:

The Inlet entertainment is over by 9 p.m. so there’s plenty of time to party. Now here is where I’m going to lose a few of you but it has to be said – if you want to party like a rock star, go back to your hotel and park your ride. Take the drunk bus (yeah I know it’s not the official name but it’s what us seasoned bike week attendees call it) to wherever you want to go. The cost is $3.00 and your bus ticket is good from 6 a.m. thru 6 a.m. (24 hours). No matter what time you buy your pass it expires 6 a.m. Buses run approximately every 15 minutes all night long and run from the Inlet to 145th Street (Delaware State Line).

Cowboy Coast Country Saloon, 17th & Ocean Highway – If live music, great drink specials, and mechanical bull riding is your taste then this is your spot. Beginning Thursday, 9/17, Cowboy Coast will host the Two Wheel Wedding® Chapel in case the mood strikes you (marriages, vow renewals, pledges of love – all available and you can ride into the chapel on your bike!). Throughout the weekend, visit the Two Wheel vintage Garage Display featuring builds by Busted Knuckles and OC’s own Sunset Cycles. Grab a cold one and wash away the road dust with a Cowboy Coast style Bikini Bike Wash. Additional entertainment and events include:

Thursday – Jump start your weekend with Jesse James Dupree and Jackyl. Friday – Delmarva favorite The Poverty Ridge Band keeps the party going! Saturday – Join FLBD with live music by Maryland’s Sam Grow for a little T&R (Toast & Roast) at Big Poppa’s Biker Birthday Bash. FLBD marketing guy Big Poppa is celebrating a big one and you don’t want to miss this!!  FLBD will be there for games, contests, music, mechanical bull riding and more. If you have ever partied with FLBD, you already know that anything can happen! Also on Saturday night: Lighted Bike Show – Enter for FREE at Cowboy Coast and you’ll enjoy VIB Parking. Settle into the biker ambiance while your bike is being judged in the Lighted Bike Show. Be sure to stop for photo ops with FLBD spokesmodels Amanda Lee and Ainsely Max.
